How to spot reseller markup before you check out
Marketplace listings are not scams — they are independent sellers pricing to demand. The problem is that they sit on the same page, in the same layout, as first-party stock at list price.

Check the seller field first
On Amazon and Walmart, the seller determines the price. Sold and shipped by the retailer generally tracks closer to MSRP; a third-party seller in the buy box sets their own number.
This one field explains most of the price spread you see across otherwise identical listings.
Know the MSRP before you shop
You cannot recognise a markup without a reference price. Learn the rough list price for the categories you buy — around $50 to $60 for a standard Elite Trainer Box, $25 to $30 for a booster bundle, $140 to $170 for a booster box.

Be sceptical of bundles
Bundling is the most common way to obscure a markup. Three tins listed as a set at a single price can quietly exceed the combined MSRP of the individual items.
Divide the bundle price by the number of sealed items and compare against the single-item list price.
Let the filter do the work
The durable fix is not vigilance, it is a ceiling. Set a maximum price in your collector profile and marked-up listings stop reaching you at all.
